Availability, Insurance and Appointments

Dr. Finnerty has availability for independent psychological exams (psychological evaluations) and is currently accepting referrals for psychological evaluations and psychological records review consultation (aka IME/ independent medical exams and medical records review). Dr. Finnerty does offer treatment for individuals, particularly those experiencing difficulties returning to work for reasons such as disabilities, injuries or mental illness. Dr. Finnerty primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral approaches to treatment. At this time, Dr. Finnerty only has a limited number of ongoing treatment slots that are currently available. Dr. Finnerty's currently available appointment times are generally in the morning and early afternoon, especially on Thursday. Dr. Finnerty does not currently have evening or weekend hours available.

Dr. Finnerty's Approach to Independent Psychological Evaluations

Dr. Finnerty provides a quick turnaround time on reports. He completes the reports soon after seeing the examinee and gets them to the referral source as fast as possible. Dr. Finnerty is also responsive to feedback and questions from referral sources. Dr. Finnerty offers reasonable fees that are negotiable based on the nature of the contract and services required. If you are from an organization that plans to send multiple referrals Dr. Finnerty is willing to set aside specific appointment times dedicated to your organization to schedule your referrals in to. He has a secure and confidential fax # that collateral information can be sent to. Dr. Finnerty makes some appointments available online for quick scheduling, however other appointment times will likely be available by phoning Dr. Finnerty directly.

• I do NOT give cursory reviews of test results- I know that test scores can be obtained for a variety of reasons
• I do not simply ignore inconsistencies in the evidence- I provide explanations for any inconsistencies that may be present

What I do

• I use my approximately 8 years of experience making decisions as a psychological records reviewer with Ohio's Social Security Disability Determination Service to understand what consumers of a psychological evaluation need
• I strive to integrate evidence from as many sources as possible
• I focus on functioning and know the importance of describing ADLs and how problems impact someone's daily life
• I describe the frequency, intensity and duration of reported symptoms-- but I also offer as many relevant observations of the examinee as possible
